Central Washington University is recruiting an Assistant Director of Athletics Communications to join our Athletics Administration team in Ellensburg, Washington. The Role:

The Assistant Director of Athletics Communications will assist in all sports information and media relations operations of the athletic department including game-day press box and scorer's table operations, development and dissemination of athletic-related press releases, maintain the department website, assist with all athletic-related social and new media sites, development of game day programs and media guides, develop and compile all statistical data, work in collaboration with other internal and external constituent groups in the promotion of Wildcat Athletics. Job Duties

 

- Assist the Director of Athletics Communications in the day-to-day operations of the Central Washington University Sports Information Office.
- Assist the Director of Athletics Communications in the management of specified game-day operations related to media requests, press box, and scorer's table assignments and operations.
- Coordinate specified media responsibilities for the CWU Athletics, athletic-related and special events - press releases, press conferences, social media, statistics, media and information guides and game programs.
- Oversee and manage athletic website, social, and new media.
- Manage all aspects of athletic communications content for accuracy to the public.
- Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

 
  • Bachelor's Degree OR any combination of education and experience which clearly demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills, organizing skills, editing ability, and knowledge of AP style.
  • Experience in Stat Crew Systems software. Knowledge and experience with online streaming and video systems, and working experience with social and new media.
  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusion and/or experience working with students and/or co-workers from a wide range of abilities, backgrounds and experiences.
  • OR applicable combination of education and/or experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous intercollegiate athletic experience in the field of media relations/sports information.
  • Experience shooting photos and video, proven storytelling ability using design and video.
  • Experience producing dynamic video and digital content.
  • Life experiences that demonstrate an ability to contribute to CWU's commitment to inclusion and diversity.
  • Experience or interest in mentoring students from a variety of backgrounds.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

 

Salary: This position has a minimum annual salary of $40,333 and maximum annual salary of $56,467. The Hiring Department's expected hiring range is $40,333 - $48,400. In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the hiring range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.  

Schedule/Appointment: Monday - Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm (1 hour lunch) / 11-month cyclic appointment

Working Conditions: Work is performed in an indoor office setting with frequent in-person interactions. It is essential to be able to remain at a desk/computer workstation for prolonged periods of time, perform extensive data entry and other computer-related tasks, and create/maintain filing systems for departmental records. Some evening or weekend work and/or occasional travel may be required.
