ROLE SUMMARY

Provides effective, efficient, and accurate pharmaceutical care to patients to ensure positive drug therapy outcomes. Coordinates and supervises compounding and distribution of drugs in a safe and accurate manner, acting in accordance with protocols, internal guidelines/standards and regulatory requirements.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Assures safe, evidence based, and cost-effective use of pharmaceuticals and IV products through the application of specialized knowledge, technology, skills, and professional judgment.

2. Serves as a patient advocate when implementing care by considering the patient's disease conditions, screening for drug misadventures, and being an active member of the healthcare team. Documents direct patient care activities appropriately.

3. Coordinates and facilitates an efficient and clinically appropriate drug distribution and communication system to assure optimal patient care following existing standards of practice and the organization's policies and procedures.

4. Follows through on identified medication errors and adverse reactions to address clinical concerns promptly to prevent recurrence.

5. Provides concise, applicable, comprehensive, and timely responses to requests for drug information from patients and health care providers.

6. Provides residents and students with the opportunities to learn in a positive and supportive environment. Provides leadership and serves as a role model for competent professional practice.

7. Exhibits skills of a practice leader by contributing to departmental leadership and management activities and involvement with committees and professional organizations.

8. Provides effective medications and practice-related education, training, or counseling to patients, caregivers, health professionals, and the public.

9. Maintains and improves individual competency through a program of lifelong learning by participation in internal and external education programs and self study. Pursues advanced training and credentialing to strengthen practice, teaching, or research skills.

10. Identifies opportunities for improvement of the organization's medication-use system and design and implement quality improvement changes with the team.

Position Summary

The Pharmacist is an exciting professional opportunity at MultiCare, ensuring prompt and accurate pharmaceutical care services for patients, nurses and physicians. This position will offer you the capacity to apply your knowledge and expertise toward supporting quality health services and patient care.

Responsibilities

  • You will dispense medications to patients and interpret IV admixture orders and prepare primary IV/solutions
  • You will manufacture nonstandard pharmaceutical preparations when required and maintain appropriate records
  • You will supervise support personnel and assumes responsibility for final check of all completed work
  • You will assist in the inspection of all pharmaceutical supplies on all services
  • You will provide for the safe and accurate provision of pharmaceutical care service

Requirements

  • Completion of an ASHP accredited pharmacy residency preferred
  • Licensed as a pharmacist in the State of Washington
  • Minimum one (1) year of pharmacy experience preferred in setting appropriate to work assignment (hospital, retail, clinic or other)

Pay and Benefit Expectations

We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $52.91 - $74.07 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant's years of experience align.
